The cross-cultural competence model by Bartel-Radic and Giannelloni (2017) combines the elements of personal traits and attitudes from the previous two models, as well as knowledge, which is incorporated in cognitive abilities. Even though these categories use the same terms as previous models, they share just a few components.

In their report, Sinicrope, Norris and Watanab (2007) mention many authors and their models. One of those models is Byram’s and Risager’s European Multidimensional Models of Intercultural Competence (EMMIC). Byram proposed a five-factor model which consists of attitude, knowledge, skills of interpreting and relating, skills of discovery and interaction, and critical cultural awareness.
The Model of Intercultural Communication Competence by Spitzberg (2000) is based on three main aspects: Knowledge, Motivation and Skills. These factors are based on listed skills, abilities, and attitude, and analyzed in three levels: the individual system, the episodic system and the relational system.
